Mission Statement: “To locate and secure affordable housing opportunities for persons with developmental disabilities”
primary mission of SCHC is to enhance, preserve, develop and administer
decent housing that is affordable to low and very low income
individuals with Developmental Disabilities and their families. SCHC
recognizes that persons with Developmental Disabilities often face the
challenge of finding affordable housing with average monthly incomes of
less than $1,000 per month. By developing affordable housing
opportunities for low income individuals, SCHC will increase affordable
housing opportunities for persons with Developmental Disabilities and
other special needs.
SCHC will enter into strategic associations
with for profit and nonprofit entities who have special expertise in
developing and operating affordable housing projects.
SCHC will
also assist Regional Center consumers with Section 8 rental subsidy
information as well as other rental subsidy assistance programs.
